DOING GOOD WORKS 1
We are saved to do the good works that couldn't save us.
Text: James 2:20
Romans 2: 6-10 detail the works of salvation and the works of unholiness- The saved patiently continue in well doing and seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life while the world is marked by contentiousness, disobedience to Truth and obedience to unrighteousness, indignation and wrath. Good works are not what make us saved, rather they are the proof of our salvation and an invitation for others to come and experience what has changed us from the inside out. The saved can be identified by the fruits they bear. The fruits don't make the tree, but they identify the tree.
If you have received Christ, God expects that you permit His work in you to shine forth through you as He works in you to do for His good pleasure. Salvation is not the allowance for lasciviousness, it is the empowerment to live like Christ. It is important to understand that consecration is proof that we believe we are holy just like being extra careful is proof of the awareness that one's cloth is white. If consecration is not practiced, the awareness of the gift of holiness can be questioned.
The proof that we have received Jesus is that we walk in Him (See Colossians 2:6). Just as trees are marked and identified by their fruits, we are also to bear what God has produced in us by His Spirit namely love, joy, peace, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness and self-control.
