JESUS IS ENOUGH
We must derive our ultimate satisfaction and contentment from Jesus and Jesus alone.
TEXT: John 6:55
Jesus didn’t only come to give bread. He came to be bread. Jesus came, not to feed our personal desires, but to change them. He came to be our ultimate satisfaction.
This is not to say that Jesus doesn’t care about physical food, because in John 6, we see Him feed people with food. We must however understand that our spirits need to be fed too, and not just by anything, but by and with the Bread of Life. So while He fed the five thousand with physical bread, We see Him say in verses 35,48 and 51 of John 6 that He is the Bread of Life; the food that supplies life and the sustenance of our spirits.
Our satisfaction must be found in the person of Jesus and nothing else; not fame, financial prosperity, ambition or earthly treasures. We must also not serve Him for what we can get from Him. We do not come to Jesus to make our lives better. We come to Him because He is better than our lives.
If we base our satisfaction on earthly things, we can never have enough because we will keep wanting more. But Jesus says that whoever comes to Him will not hunger or thirst. Jesus is enough to fill us up and keep us going, so we feast on Him.
