RESPOND
Hearing God's word without doing it or putting it to use robs us of the profit inherent in doing it.
Text: James 1:22
Communication is incomplete without feedback. How you can ascertain that someone heard you call them is that they answer you and come to you.
The proof that you heard God's word is that you put it to use and act on what you heard. God's word isn't just to inform you, it's actually supposed to inform you to transform you, and the way to get transformed is to act on what you heard.
It's actually what you do with the word after you hear it that determines whether or not it will profit you and the extent to which it will profit you.
Let's see 2 Timothy 3:16-17. It says: "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works."
Scriptures are supposed to be profited from, so that we can come into a place of perfection and completeness, but the profitability of the word varies from person to person and is dependent on the ability and willingness to obey and practice what has been heard. The profitability process begins from hearing and most definitely does not stop there. We must be swift to act on what we hear. We must be prompt to respond to God's voice through His word. As we respond, our convictions get strengthened.
Whenever we study or hear the word, it is yet another opportunity for reevaluation. It is another opportunity to be instructed. We must be receptive to instructions in righteousness. Remember, God's word is for doing.
STUDY THIS: Matthew 13:1-23
DECLARE THIS: I am a word practitioner. I swiftly obey the word and I put it to use. I respond always! Glory!
